Am envious about,
- not able to be one among the Jackson 5
- not able to be a part of atleast a small time dancing crew in the Thriller video
- not being one among the huge crowd shot in the 'they don't really care about us' video.
- the audience who witnessed the historical (later went on to become phenomenal only to be patented by MJ) 'moonwalk' which MJ debuted on May 16, 1983 at the Motown 25 anniversary.
- the audience who witnessed the 'Billie Jean' performance of MJ on the MJ 30th anniversary at the Madison Square, New York in the year 2001(am sure atleast the audience present there couldn't have imagined even in the wildest of their dreams that would be his last concert before the curtains fell on the June 25, 2009).
and there are many more to come to join the list as I start discovering more about the legend's talent. " You shouldn't write the music, the music should write itself " - MJ , in one of his interviews. The statement may seem baffling to many, but am sure most of his contemporaries would have exactly understood what he meant.
From my perspective, the fashion statements of his using the hat and the glove was just to bedeck his incredible talent so as to present himself well among the audience. But in reality it was his soul which was doing all the magic. Thanks to the Paparazzi, they were in the best what they are always capable of, making a star's life as miserable as possible and rake in tons of dollars in return. MJ enjoyed this cook created by the press. I guess MJ looked at the media and press as beggars who were begging him to let them peak into his personal life so that they could also live by selling his life. In that sense it would only add to the numerous charities that he'd done the only difference being instead of a cheque, he had to provide them with some cooked up stories for the press to make some money.
MJ was one but his music did multi. Who could it be better than MJ to break the racial barriers through music. Persons can look at his each of his performances from their own perspective, like in my case, I could see the victory of mankind over racialism, ethnicity, war etc. But for many of the millions of his fans he was god, had dreams to see him live like one of my friends said, " he was young man!!50 thats it!!I always had a fantasy to watch a concert by him.Man the first english music i heard was his", when the news of his death broke out.
He should be included in the school syllabuses for the future generation to know what his music did, for, he had already made history.
While any kind of commemoration would look insufficient for this giant, I would like to sign off with few favourite lines of mine from his eternal 'Billie Jean'
"People always told me be careful of what you do and don't go around breaking young girls' hearts and mother always told me be careful of who you love and be careful of what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth , hey hey hey , Billie Jean is not my lover She's just a girl who claims am the one But the Kid is not my son"
Human body can be destroyed but not the soul.
Bidding adieu to the greatest entertainer of all times.
PS: Am still in MJ hangover. Someone please help me.
