Shahrukh Khan , Who?

So whats the big deal if SRK was held in the Newark airport for a couple of hours. Why does media has to sensationalize some news even on the Independence day. A photo showing SRK looking pale, his hands on his head, and the headlines reads "My self-respect was hurt". Who isn't hurt if they are held for interrogation? The media blew it big just because the person who was interrogated turned out to be SHAHRUKH KHAN. Then what about those numerous travellers with the same or resembling this last name, who have been through such interrogation before? Don't they have self-repect or their self-respect isn't hurt? Where is media when their self-respects are hurt? Why don't they highlight their plights? As a person who clearly understands media's modus operandi, I don't see any difference between them and people who cause riots in the name of religion.

The problem i understannd is this, as being a public personality, there are many simple ways like searching his name in the internet or something like that could have stopped all this. The problem they are trying to show is USA should stop harassing people just because of their names or looks. Its just that the message reads louder. Imagine opening ibnlilve or ndtv and seeing Harishankar held in DTW airport for two hours. You will think what the hell ? who is this funny guy anyway ?

Its because its sharukh you even turned to this news. :)

and, how about a journalist working on this issue for quite sometime and coming out with a headline "people with 'Khan' as their last name are being harassed at the US immigration" along with some evidences to back up. Wouldn't people learn about this issue? Does the media had to wait for a Shahrukh Khan to highlight this issue?

One thing that i missed to say in the prev comment is that i too totally agree with vishnu on the media following a sensational posting marketing strategy. Even in the case of swine flu, as my frind pointed out that they are showing headlines as if the count of gold medalist each city has got so far in some event.

So there is no doubt that the media is becoming more of sensational portal.

@vishnu: I agree with you. But innvestigational journalism needs a lot of independence and unfortunately news portals turn into such cheap sensitive journalism.

But also specific movies speak about this issue. Infact the movie Newyork had the same subject as the issue. It needs time and intellect to understand these problems, which the media assumes we dont have
