Shahrukh Khan , Who?

So whats the big deal if SRK was held in the Newark airport for a couple of hours. Why does media has to sensationalize some news even on the Independence day. A photo showing SRK looking pale, his hands on his head, and the headlines reads "My self-respect was hurt". Who isn't hurt if they are held for interrogation? The media blew it big just because the person who was interrogated turned out to be SHAHRUKH KHAN. Then what about those numerous travellers with the same or resembling this last name, who have been through such interrogation before? Don't they have self-repect or their self-respect isn't hurt? Where is media when their self-respects are hurt? Why don't they highlight their plights? As a person who clearly understands media's modus operandi, I don't see any difference between them and people who cause riots in the name of religion.

The Gangster in us

In the Telugu film, Shiva, there is a dialogue by the villian, Bhavani : " Nanaji, ee oorulo manam em chesina chelluthundhi antey jananiki mana meedha vunna bhayam kanaka", which means" Nanaji, whatever crime we do in this city is passable just because of the fear the public has got upon us". This is what carries, most of us, away in what we do. Right from the school days we have this tendency of forcing our ideas on our juniors or our friends who look upto you and listen seriously to what you say. Doesn't matter how big or small you tried to influence them, but all of us definitely get carried away when someone expresses slightest fear or anxiety in what you do and what you say. On a large scale this is what must be happening in the crime circle right from a petty thief to a gangster. Its not the weapons that they use matters to them but its the fear factor, that, a set of people residing in a colony has got on a thief , to, the public and police has got on a dreadful gangster. The reason for him to get carried away is that he is alone and there are none to influence his thoughts or mind. But what if he was in school during childhood surrounded by a set of friends? In most of us this sort of 'getting carried away by others fear upon you' attitude dies as we move from school, college to work and then settle down as a public, since we also get influenced by the people around us and that neutralizes effect. So in a way we all are fortunate to have been through school not for the fact that all of us compete to score a centum in a board examination but to refine ourselves as a human being.

Bottomline: Its like an ad campaign I thought of targeting countless parents who force their children on scoring a decimal higher than his/her competitor in the school. Education is not about the numbers in the examinations but its the peronality that churns out in each and everyone of us.

An alien named MJ

" You need Chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star" - Friedrich Nietzche. Don't know what Nietzche had in mind when he quoted this statement. But thats exactly what i feel is the King of pop Michael Jackson's life 's all about. The chaos of his dad led to MJs infamous childhood but did the world realise that he was on the verge of creating an incredible popularity and sensation in the history of world music. The fire was already lit among the Jackson 5 led by MJ.No doubt his millions of fans across the globe were in a trance when he performed on stage. While being conscious about his prodigious talent as a recording artist, here is the list below which made be envious.

Am envious about,

  • not able to be one among the Jackson 5
  • not able to be a part of atleast a small time dancing crew in the Thriller video
  • not being one among the huge crowd shot in the 'they don't really care about us' video.
  • the audience who witnessed the historical (later went on to become phenomenal only to be patented by MJ) 'moonwalk' which MJ debuted on May 16, 1983 at the Motown 25 anniversary.
  • the audience who witnessed the 'Billie Jean' performance of MJ on the MJ 30th anniversary at the Madison Square, New York in the year 2001(am sure atleast the audience present there couldn't have imagined even in the wildest of their dreams that would be his last concert before the curtains fell on the June 25, 2009).

and there are many more to come to join the list as I start discovering more about the legend's talent. " You shouldn't write the music, the music should write itself " - MJ , in one of his interviews. The statement may seem baffling to many, but am sure most of his contemporaries would have exactly understood what he meant.

From my perspective, the fashion statements of his using the hat and the glove was just to bedeck his incredible talent so as to present himself well among the audience. But in reality it was his soul which was doing all the magic. Thanks to the Paparazzi, they were in the best what they are always capable of, making a star's life as miserable as possible and rake in tons of dollars in return. MJ enjoyed this cook created by the press. I guess MJ looked at the media and press as beggars who were begging him to let them peak into his personal life so that they could also live by selling his life. In that sense it would only add to the numerous charities that he'd done the only difference being instead of a cheque, he had to provide them with some cooked up stories for the press to make some money.

MJ was one but his music did multi. Who could it be better than MJ to break the racial barriers through music. Persons can look at his each of his performances from their own perspective, like in my case, I could see the victory of mankind over racialism, ethnicity, war etc. But for many of the millions of his fans he was god, had dreams to see him live like one of my friends said, " he was young man!!50 thats it!!I always had a fantasy to watch a concert by him.Man the first english music i heard was his", when the news of his death broke out.

He should be included in the school syllabuses for the future generation to know what his music did, for, he had already made history.

While any kind of commemoration would look insufficient for this giant, I would like to sign off with few favourite lines of mine from his eternal 'Billie Jean'

"People always told me be careful of what you do and don't go around breaking young girls' hearts and mother always told me be careful of who you love and be careful of what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth , hey hey hey , Billie Jean is not my lover She's just a girl who claims am the one But the Kid is not my son"

Human body can be destroyed but not the soul.

Bidding adieu to the greatest entertainer of all times.

PS: Am still in MJ hangover. Someone please help me.
